Author Spotlight: Mya Larose - One More Time, Books 1 & 2

Zara's second chance(One More Time, #1)
(One More Time, Book 1)

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Burnt by love in the past, Zara is convinced that finding a man who appreciates her curves and independent nature is an impossible task. Instead, she focuses her energy on building the business she loves and avoiding the controlling tendencies of her judgemental mother. Burning off a little sexual tension with the assistance of her faithful vibrator, while daydreaming about her sexy new neighbor, keeps her heart safe and voracious libido under control.

Irresistibly drawn to Zara's luscious curves and spirited nature, Peter can't help but lust after the beautiful woman who makes his blood boil without even trying. Lust quickly turns to love when he discovers the fragile heart she hides beneath her independant exterior, and he's determined to make her his own in every possible way.

Letting go of the painful experiences of her past in order to reach for a chance at happiness in the future is a challenge Zara must face head on. Trusting Peter enough to submit her body to his passions and her heart to his keeping is much easier said than done, and the experience itself just might be more than she ever bargained for.

A sensual story of self discovery, Zara's Second Chance is a well written and paced erotic romance about learning to love and accept yourself before learning to love another. I noted a few minor editing errors, but nothing that significantly detracted from the overall reading experience. With well balanced characters and an emotionally charged storyline, this novella length, stand alone story, is the first published by Mya Larose, but certainly won't be the last!

Lara's Last Journey (One More Time, #2)
(One More Time, Book 2)

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Haunted by her dreams of a sexy Turkish prince who stirs passion in her soul like no one she's ever meet, Lara decides to travel to the land of her dreams for a much needed vacation. Before she can leave, however, she finds herself falling into a waking nightmare before slipping into darkness.

Suleyman has served his father, the powerful Sultan Hasan, tirelessly while his Ottoman homeland is at war. When peace is finally achieved he yearns for nothing more than to find his Kadin, the sensual redheaded lover who comes to him in his dreams.

It's hard to say who is more shocked, Pasha or Lara, upon discovering that their dreams have come to life. Igniting the flames that first sparked in dreams is the easy part, accepting the reality of a love that transcends time is a more difficult adjustment than either anticipated having to face.

A stand alone tale of destined love that defies the limits of time, Lara's Last Journey is a novella length erotic romance that blends the past with the present. I would have liked to see a little bit more development of the time-travel elements within the story, as it's left fairly open to reader speculation, but was impressed with the authentic feel of the characterization within the Ottoman Empire. Although the main structure of this story was well paced and solidly written, I struggled greatly with the significant number of basic grammar and sentence structure errors that were not nearly as prevalent in the first book in this series. Overall, I enjoyed this steamy romance, and am looking forward to future additions to this unique series by Mara Larose.

Author Profile
Mya Larose was born in Turkey in the eighties, educated in France, studied in Cambridge University. She is a thirty-three year old youngish woman living in northern Ireland, now, with her wonderful Northern Irish husband as well as her children and a wee granddaughter.

Mya was attracted to books since she could remember. As she grew “older” her love for books followed. She always wanted to write but had this fear of refusal. Putting her phobia aside, she pulled her big girls knickers on and started to write six months ago.

It wasn’t long before she decided to try her hand at getting it published. She couldn’t describe what she felt when she learned that her first book was going to be published. Since then, she’s been working on two more manuscripts.

  1. I have to agree to disagree with your review. I absolutely enjoyed it. It was an awesome book and I think Lara's Last Journey was truly well written. Mya Larose did such a great job with the second book in her One More Time Series.
By the way, you have the name of the hero wrong. You mentioned him by his title. He’s name is Pasha SULEYMAN.
