Mending the Rift
by Chris T. Kat
Length: 214 Pages
Genres: Sci-Fi, Gay (M/M), MPREG, Romance
In a future where man’s ability to reproduce is severely compromised, humanity has adapted to survive. Breeders—male and female—have become precious commodities, and they are strictly guarded and subject to limitations.
Luca Walker is a breeder. Though he knows what’s expected of him as the youngest son of the Northern Confederacy’s Vice President, he’s held out against the pressures of an arranged marriage because he longs to marry for love, not duty. But he’s been promised to Colonel Liam Smith and there’s little he can do about it, no matter that Luca is secretly in love with his bodyguard, Marcus Gray.
When Luca finds himself pregnant with Marcus’s baby, Smith is furious and vows to take what is his—by force, if necessary. Now Luca must fight for his life and the life of his unborn child… as well as the love of Marcus and the happily ever after he’s always dreamed of.
Today I'm pleased to be welcoming Chris T. Kat, author of Mending the Rift. Hi Chris!
1. What’s the easiest thing about writing?
The easiest part is getting lost in my characters’ world, their emotions and relationships. I really enjoy it when a story flows.
2. Name one author (living or dead) you’d like to write with?
There’s no one I’d like to write with. I’ve co-written a story with Julie Lynn Hayes, and our styles meshed greatly. We had to set the story aside, though, because of my timetable and other obligations. At the moment, I’m not writing anything anyway.
3. Tell us about your cover and how it came about.
The cover is Angsty G’s idea. She created it on a whim, and I loved the tummy kiss so much that I wanted this one as the cover for Mending the Rift. I think it fits perfectly. It’s a loving scene, and it hints at Luca’s pregnancy without hitting readers over the head with it.
4. Is this book part of a series? Do you have ideas that could make it into a series? If it is a series, tell us a little about it.
No, this book is a standalone. It would be possible to create another book in this universe but it would be set in the past and tell the story of Nicholas and Greg, Luca’s dads. I grew extremely fond of Nicholas while writing Luca’s story.
5. Word association. Tell us the first thing that comes to mind when you read these words.
Ketchup – don’t like it
Flakes – snowflakes?
Elastic – love elastic pants
Timer – hate it
Google – a really useful tool
5 of 5 stars
I'm not a big fan of Mpreg stories because they are often ridiculously unrealistic but I am a HUGE fan of Chris T. Kat so I decided to give Mending the Rift a chance and I'm so glad I did! I immediately fell in love with Luca, Marcus and Luca's dads. I was hooked from the first paragraph and it got better with each page. The world building is unique, relatable and continues to develop as the story progresses.
Chris T. Kat lives in the middle of Europe, where she shares a house with her husband of many years and their two children. She stumbled upon the M/M genre by luck and was swiftly drawn into it. She divides her time between work, her family—which includes chasing after escaping horses and lugging around huge instruments such as a harp—and writing. She enjoys a variety of genres, such as mystery/suspense, paranormal, and romance. If there's any spare time, she happily reads for hours, listens to audiobooks or does cross stitch.
