Another Gift:
A Nick and Leon Christmas Story
(Unexpected Gifts, Book 2)
by D.C. Williams
Genres: Contemporary, M/M, Romance
An urgent phone call in the middle of the night sends Nick and Leon on a rescue mission.
Leon’s youngest brother, Jared, is desperate and homeless after he is rejected by their parents.
Amidst the bustle of the holiday season and a trip with Nick’s relatives Nick and Leon incorporate the damaged teenager into their little family.
Now that they have been led to one another, can Nick and Leon put away the past and commit to each other fully in the sight of God?
This an inspirational Christmas story that contains descriptions of intimate moments between two men. It is intended for adults over eighteen years of age.
Every month I choose a charity to support on my blog. This month's featured charity is The Trevor Project which provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ youth. Tthe holiday season is can be an especially difficult time for LGBTQ youth, particularly for those who have been rejected by their families. The situation that Leon's younger brother, Jared, experiences in Another Gift is heart-breakingly common. Jared still has brothers who love and support him, which is something many of our young people are living without. Please spread the word about The Trevor Project this holiday season in any way you can. Remember; it only takes one person to save a life. ~Carly
If you are a young person who is in crisis, feeling suicidal, or in need of a safe and judgment-free place to talk, call The Trevor Lifeline now at 866-488-7386.
Their trained counselors are available to support you 24/7.
I'm a romance writer. I write happy endings. Giving the characters in "Another Gift" that ending is a wonderful feeling. Unfortunately, in real life that ending isn't always so happy. Most of us have seen the statistics on the high rates of virtually every ill that can befall LGBTQ teens--suicide attempts, substance abuse, violence, depression, even pregnancy. According to the best estimates, forty percent of homeless young adults are LGBTQ.
Many of my stories are written from a Christian perspective, and very much with the belief that there is no law greater than the directive to treat each other lovingly. Without getting deeply involved in theology, I am always desperately saddened to know that some of this misery is inflicted in the name of religion. Rejection and persecution are not Christian values.
I'm honored to be on Carly's blog today, and I'm honored to share more of Nick and Leon's story with you. This is also Jared's story, and happy endings rock. ~D.C. Williams
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I loved Unexpected Gifts, which told Nick and Leon's story, primarily from Nick's point of view. ANOTHER GIFT gives readers a more intimate glimpse into Leon's family and heart. The way that he interacts with his brothers, and how he and Nick have drawn together as a couple and show their love to Leon's brother, Jared.
ANOTHER GIFT is a novella length story that is the perfect follow up to UNEXPECTED GIFTS and a deeply touching emotional reading experience. While continuing to exemplify the Christian values that are a central part of Nick and Leon's relationship, ANOTHER GIFT reminds me that love is the most important gift you can give.
*This is a series that should be read in order.*

D.C. Williams is a funny little middle-aged woman who lives in Pennsylvania with one spouse and one child and writes romance novels you wouldn't expect. She has an unfortunately common name, but a hopefully uncommon imagination. She LOVES reader interaction!
Yay! Sounds like a great story. Should I read Unexpected Gifts #1 first?
ReplyDeleteYes! Unexpected Gifts is a must read or this one won't make sense.

I forgot my most memorable gift! The first Christmas that we were married my husband gave me a ceiling fan! We had just bought a new home and I made the comment that I really wanted a ceiling fan for the living room. Needless to say I never got another gift like that one again.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like your husband and mine might be related. Some of my more practical Christmas gifts have included a clothes dryer, refrigerator, and electric garage door opener. I'm still waiting for the diamond earrings I've been hinting for! LOL

DeleteOver 40 yrs ago my dad gave me a pin. It is a silver rabbit with Mother of Pearl inlay, only about 1 inch tall. He brought it from Canada and I still have it. That is the Christmas gift. The most memorable gift I have received came from my grandfather. My grandma was always saying "Chuck, go get this/that and give it to her". This he gave me all on his own. He went to the basement and brought up an old glass water bottle and gave it to me. He knew thatI saved change like a fiend and he wanted me to have something to keep it in. I am afraid to use it for that, I don't want it to get broken, but I will not give it away.
ReplyDeleteSometimes it's the simplest gifts that come from the heart.
